With the beginning of a new season and with new opportunities on the horizon I cannot help but think of this verse, and when I say think I believe the Holy Spirit brought it to remembrance.
"Do not call to mind the former things, Or ponder things of the past. “Behold, I will do something new, now it will spring forth; Will you not be aware of it? I will even make a roadway in the wilderness, Rivers in the desert.” Isiaiah 43:18-19
Believing that God’s heart is for His people and that Jesus gave the best example of servant leadership, I believe that God has given vision and direction for this new season. The three words he is challenging us to step into are “Excellence, Service, and Change.” I believe these truths to be the context in which we as a school emulate. We are called to do all things with excellence, we are called to serve and we are called to be agents of change. We are to continue moving forward and not stay in the place of living in the former blessings but believing that there are so many more blessing and paths before us.
So how do we do that as a school? How do we raise a generation that will change the world? How do we get the truth that we pour into our students go from concept to conviction so that their behavior is changed and they are able to change the trajectory of the world around them? We will set a standard and teach with academic excellence within a biblical worldview. We will see what we do well and how we can do it better. We will remain teachable and be led by the Holy Spirit so that we will provide for our students a rich and challenging educational experience.
Jesus came to serve and not to be served and we want our students to follow His example.
To understand that we serve to enable and equip, that it is through yielded believers God demonstrates the fullness of Christ who dwells in us to the world. We will incorporate into our schools DNA through real life experiences and interactions a servant-leadership mentality, to take action and meet the need.
We want our students to be the ones that answer the call to go and be the agents of change. We can only pray that in our pouring into them, they begin to live from an encounter with the resurrected Christ and not from a theology of Christ. That their encounter would change how they think, and how they live. We must believe that we can change a nation when we take the time to minister and teach to the “one.”
I truly believe that working together as a community of believers within the school, partnering with our parents and church families we can see this next generation become all that God has called them to be.
